It is marked in 300 cc increments up to 1,200 cc, in 400 cc increments from 1,200 to 2,000 cc, and in 500 cc increments from 2,000 to 5,000 cc. The movement of the indicator provides approximate feedback on the volume inhaled during the exercise. Reaching 5,000 cc is not necessary for every patient; each individual\u2019s target is determined according to their condition.<\/p>\n<p>This scale is intended to guide the exercise and is not used to measure lung capacity precisely or diagnose disease.
