Design and Function
The device consists of a base, a three-chamber body, three balls and a tube with a mouthpiece. Each transparent chamber contains a ball of a different colour and size. As users inhale through the mouthpiece, the balls rise according to the airflow, providing visual feedback during the exercise.

Airflow Levels
The values of 600, 900 and 1,200 cubic centimetres (cc) per second indicate the airflow rate during inhalation—the amount of air passing through the device each second. For example, a value of 600 refers to 600 cc of air passing through the device in one second. When the airflow reaches the specified level for each chamber, the corresponding ball rises, providing visual feedback. These values do not indicate the total volume of air entering the lungs or lung capacity. The exercise goal and appropriate airflow level should be determined according to the physician’s instructions.
Difference from Diagnostic Spirometry
An incentive spirometer is used for deep-breathing exercises; it does not measure lung function or diagnose disease. Diagnostic spirometry is a separate test performed using a spirometer to measure the volume and flow rate of inhaled and exhaled air to assess lung function.
Precautions for Use
Follow your physician’s or therapist’s instructions regarding the technique, frequency and duration of the exercises, and read the instructions supplied with the product before use. If you experience dizziness, shortness of breath or any discomfort, stop the exercise and consult your physician.
