Description
Tiramed IRT 1603 Digital Infrared Ear and Forehead Thermometer
The Tiramed IRT 1603 digital infrared thermometer is designed to measure body temperature at the ear or forehead. Forehead measurements are contact-free, and the device also features a separate mode for measuring object temperature. These options make it easier to monitor the temperature of family members, from children to adults.
Two Methods of Body Temperature Measurement
Ear Measurement with Disposable Probe Covers
The IRT 1603 uses a dedicated probe for ear temperature measurement. A disposable cover fits over the probe and should be replaced after each use. This makes it easier to maintain hygiene during temperature checks and is suitable for shared-use settings such as hospitals and clinics.
Each package includes a storage container holding disposable probe covers. There is no need to touch the new cover directly when replacing it: simply insert the tip of the thermometer into the container to fit a new cover automatically. This makes preparation quicker and reduces hand contact with the cover.
Forehead Measurement
Forehead temperature is measured without direct skin contact, making this method useful when checking several people or when skin contact is undesirable. Like disposable ear probe covers, this approach helps maintain hygiene when the device is shared and is suitable for homes, clinics and hospitals.
Object Temperature Measurement
The dedicated object mode allows users to check the temperature of items such as feeding bottles, food, liquids and surfaces. This feature is useful for families caring for children. The reading in this mode represents the object’s temperature and should not be compared with body temperature.
Sensor and Response Time
The device is equipped with a Japanese sensor and displays the measurement result in approximately one second.
Display and Additional Features
The colour LCD with backlighting makes results easy to read, and its colour changes provide a fever alert.
Temperature readings can be displayed in Celsius or Fahrenheit.
The device stores the last nine readings, allowing users to track temperature changes over successive measurements.
Silent mode allows temperature checks during sleep. The device switches off automatically after 30 seconds of inactivity.
Power Supply
The IRT 1603 operates on two AAA batteries. When the batteries run out, they can be replaced immediately, allowing measurements to continue without waiting for recharging. Keeping spare batteries alongside the device helps ensure it is ready for use, particularly in busy settings such as clinics and care facilities.
Cooling Patch
Each IRT 1603 package includes a disposable cooling patch. The patch provides quick, temporary relief from the feeling of heat associated with fever. Unlike conventional compresses, it does not require refrigeration and is ready to use whenever needed.
Protection and Storage
A protective cap covers the sensing section during storage, protecting it from accidental contact. The thermometer comes with a durable, hard-shell EVA case that protects the device against impact and pressure and provides dedicated compartments for the thermometer and its accessories.
